KISMET Lore Dump: In the Perseus system, mana exists primarily in two forms--solid, coalesced ether, and free-floating throughout the system.  Free-floating mana is most readily found in the network of ley lines that criss-cross the system.  Ley lines are by no means static--instead, they flow much the way rivers do.  Major ley lines tend to be more stable and consistent, especially as they are dammed and augmented by humans to be used as conduits for Faster-than-Light communication and near-Light-speed travel.  Minor ley lines are much more variable, often changing course or drying up with the mana currents that ebb and flow throughout the system.
