KISMET Lore dump: The Perseus system has a wide variety of flora and fauna, a vast majority of which are unstudied.  Some species are found on multiple planets (due in large part to being invasive organisms that were brought along by humans) but the vast majority of ecosystems remain endemic to their respective planets.  Xenobiologists routinely discover teeming ecosystems in the most unlikely of places, including small, low-atmosphere planetoids.
