KISMET Lore dump: The first conduits humanity knew of were naturally occurring objects. Certain materials/ores seemed to both attract and conduct mana, making them useful for casting magic or focusing it in a manner that could be used as an energy source.  The rudimentary conduits used in humanity's prehistory paved the way for the technological developments that first industrialized Perseid society and later helped it achieve space travel.
